MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

I am very excited to have been given the opportunity to serve as the new Superintendent of Education for the Durant Public School District! During the 2012-2013 school year, our district will be committed to caring and dedicated to excellence: We will be committed to providing students with educational services and support needed in order to be successful. Not only will we strive for excellence in academics, but we will also strive for excellence in all of our extracurricular programs. Our mission is to instill in all of our students a love for learning, while preparing them to compete in the global community. Our primary focus is to increase academic achievement of all students in the Durant Public School District. In addition, to achieve our goals, we will improve teacher capacity by providing quality professional developments, coaching, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating because “Failure Is Not An Option.”

As your superintendent, I have set high expectations for students, teachers, administrators, and myself. I realize that a quality education does not come easy. Our success depends on the hard work of our teachers, as they prepare quality lessons each day, focusing on the needs of every child.

In my commitment to the district, I ask teachers to set high expectations for all students, and I will provide our staff with support to ensure that the expectations are achieved. It is my expectation that our students will work hard to reach their full potential and to make good decisions about the life they want to lead. I will work to ensure that every child has a vision and a plan for their futures, which includes graduating from high school and succeeding beyond the Durant Public School District.

Education is a joint effort; therefore, I ask parents to be involved in their child's education. I also ask them to find time to help their children complete school assignments, encourage their children to read, and teach their children to take responsibility for learning. Not only that, but I ask parents to help their children set goals and develop a plan to accomplish the goals.

Again, I am proud to be leading Durant Public School District, as we work together as a team to improve academic achievement for our students and community.

At Durant Public School District’s office, we have an open door policy that is open to students, parents, community, and stakeholders. Please feel free to stop by the office or call because the school belongs to the community. I look forward to serving you as Superintendent of Durant Public School District.

Yours for a better education,
Louise Sanders-Tate
